When it's hot outside, your body requires more fluids than normal. In fact, if you're working hard in a hot environment, drink at least two cups of water every hour. Sugary and alcoholic drinks will not help hydrate you, so avoid those.

One of the best ways to manage extremely hot weather is to stay in air-conditioned buildings. Before the start of summer weather, have your HVAC system serviced by a professional so it will be ready to use on the first hot day. Hypothermia usually occurs when you are in extreme cold for an extended period of time. If you must go outside in such conditions, bundle well and keep your time outdoors as short as possible. In case you run into car trouble, keep blankets in your vehicle for an additional protective layer.

Just being inside is not always enough to prevent cold-related illness. Rather, you must have a working HVAC system that keeps your house at a safe temperature. In fact, one of the groups most at risk of hypothermia is young babies whose bedrooms are too cold. Prevent this with a well-functioning furnace.
