My friends and I are all fitness freaks. We hit the gym very often, eat good food and practice a lot of different health fads as they keep coming. Many of my friends had taken up Yoga at some point as well. After they did, I began to notice a lot of changes in their lives.

Just for starters, while I still used to hop on in my relaxing massage chair to chill out after a long day, they hardly ever seemed fazed or tired out by anything.

Inspired by their lifestyles, I decided to see what it was all about for myself. I took up some beginner’s Yoga classes and in a couple of months, these are the changes that became evident in my life:

I have always been an emotional person and anxiety has clouded my mind for as long as I can remember.

I realized truly how big a role meditation actually played in Yoga. I was supposed to keep my mind clear during the most difficult stretches and breathe in a calm manner.

One of the things this did was that it helped me see my life in a much clearer light. This, in turn, stopped me from being depressed or anxious.

Calmness all Around

Needless to say, I used to have a pretty short fuse. After taking up Yoga, though, I was able to suppress my anger so much better. I actually surprised everyone I knew! This was the time I knew the Yoga classes were paying off.

Rock at Sports

Yoga is supposed to sharpen your reflexes and improve your range of motion. I read this in a scientific study about Yoga benefits and decided to test it out during an intense game of basketball with my buddies.

I don’t know if I was trying to fool myself but my game had become so much stronger I actually thought of going pro for a while. I sound so cocky, don’t I? Well, this is because Yoga helps you:

When I did my own Yoga research, it suggested that Yoga helps with confidence by optimizing the chakra center and pathway located around our navel. This center of chakra helps you become more confident.

Yoga makes you physically fit, everyone knows that. But, it also helps you make much better decisions about your life. You start eating healthier, sleeping at a better time and remaining hydrated because you start valuing your health so much more.

Meditation makes you spiritual. The spirituality makes you believe in a higher power and helps you see the world as more harmonious and less chaotic. This induces positivity and makes you happy.

View the World from a Different Perspective

If you’ve always been a pessimist about your life and the world, you will notice some positivity beginning to take shape in your life. You acquire a different perspective of the world and become more solution-oriented because you are able to think so much better.
