If your partner’s bad bedtime habits keep you awake, affecting your relationship in the daytime, or if your health is suffering from a lack of sleep – a sleep divorce might be the solution.

As couples realize that they need more sleep for the sake of their health and that the time apart from a nightmare sleep situation really can make the heart grow fonder – more and more are choosing to go off to separate beds when it’s time to turn in.

The studies of couples’ sleep habits have revealed:

  • Almost 1/3 of us are kept awake by our partner’s annoying sleep habits every single night.
  • 28% suffer from these issues at least once a week. This can negatively affect everything from mental health to work performance.
  • 25% of people cited snoring as the most common reason for arguments with their partner.
  • After 11 years together, couples have had enough, with 66% of respondents calling for a sleep divorce after 11 years together.
  • 1/4 of respondents would consider sleeping in a separate bed to their partner for a good night’s sleep.
  • Over 1/3 of respondents don’t go to bed at the same time as their partner. This can lead to incompatibility with each other’s sleep cycles – especially over an extended period of time.
  • The results showed that men complain more about partners eating in bed, using their mobile device and hogging the duvet.
  • Women are more likely to be annoyed by partners that snore and talk in their sleep.
